Knaresborough boss pleased with performances

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division

Knaresborough Town manager Simon Parkes

Simon Parkes says Knaresborough Town’s performances have not yielded the points they have deserved.

Knaresborough have seven points from seven games in a very competitive and close Premier Division.

“Unfortunately results haven’t really reflected what the performances have been like,” Parkes told Non League Yorkshire.

“You look at the last couple of games and we played Bottesford and we were leading with 12 minutes and we walked away with no points.

“That could have easily gone the other way.

“Whereas the win at Silsden was more of a reflection of where I see our performances have been.

“It is very early days and we have picked up a couple of wins recently but early on it was a difficult start and we didn’t get the results we were expecting.

“But everyone is beating everyone at the moment and you never get a true reflection of where the league is going to be until the beginning of October.

“If we had got the win against Bottesford it would have seen us at the other end of the table.

“It is fine margins and I’m very impressed with what I’m seeing from the team on the training ground.

“They are listening and they are implementing it on the pitch.

“I only see it continuing to improve and the results will follow as along as the performances match what we have been displaying in the last couple of weeks.

What is definitely frustrating for Parkes is their home form.

Knaresborough’s two wins have been at Garforth Town and Silsden.

“That’s one thing I have addressed in the changing room,” he said.

“It is very important for the team to be doing what they have been doing away from home in the way of results at home.

“That’s a big objective.

“It is important we turn the results around, especially at home and put a good show on for the crowd at Manse Lane.”

Knaresborough are away at Frickley Athletic this evening.
