Greaves heads Thackley to last minute win

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division Round-Up (1)

Thackley interim manager Tom Greaves

Interim manager Tom Greaves came on as a late substitute and headed ten man Thackley to a dramatic 4-3 win at his old club Garforth Town.

The epic encounter had seen Thackley take a 2-0 lead through Aiden Chippendale and Ben Grech-Brooksbank.

Sam Barker pulled one back and Garforth equalised via Nick Thompson shortly after Thackley’s Lewis Morgan was sent off.

An own goal credited to Toby Wells restored Thackley’s lead before Dan Coupland’s penalty seemingly rescued a point for Garforth.

But then Greaves pounced with his diving header.

Maltby Main striker Sam Ackroyd

Maltby Main responded with a blitz of goals after conceding early in their 3-2 victory over Handsworth.

Handsworth raced the lead after ex-Maltby striker Mitch Dunne scored.

Sam Ackroyd then struck twice, either side of Jordan Lonchar’s strike.

Sam Smith gave Handsworth late hope.

Penistone Church eased to a 3-0 win at Yorkshire Amateur thanks to Wayne Hughes, Nathan Keightley and Cameron Simpson.

Goals from Jock Curran and Ben Gelder earned Hemsworth Miners Welfare a 2-0 win at Knaresborough Town.

Frickley Athletic lost 4-0 at second placed Winterton Rangers.
