Promotion-chasing Hallam put seventh-place Knaresborough Town to the sword.

The victory gives Ryan Hindley’s men a decent cushion between themselves and Knaresborough.

With a trip to Pontefract Collieries on Wednesday night, Hallam could also be back in real contention for the top two by the end of the week.

Hallam wasted no time in disposing of Knaresborough. Kieran Watson maintained his great form with the fifth minute opener before Jed Phillips doubled the lead.

Watson then missed a penalty as visiting goalkeeper Ben Ledger diverted it onto the crossbar.

The third goal though soon arrived when Oliver Beaumont converted Matty Ord’s cross.

Fraser Lancaster reduced the deficit in the second half, but Watson restored the three-goal lead with a further goal with ten minutes to go.
