Biggest influence on football career

My Grandad is my biggest influence as he started my journey at a young age practicing football with me and always supported me.

Career Highlight

My career highlight would be scoring in front of 1500 people at Liversedge and celebrating the 6-0 win (over Ossett United) with everyone.

Most Memorable Game

My most memorable game up to now I would say was the Halifax game, again unreal crowd and came out 6-3 winners. Managed to score two goals and enjoy an unreal atmosphere.

Lowest Moment in Football

My lowest moment in football was definitely getting dropped from Sheffield United at 11, it just put me off football for a long time, I managed to get the love back fortunately during my teenage years.

Biggest regret in football

I don’t really have any regrets as what i have done has led me to the position i’m in now and i’m the happiest I’ve been.

Funniest moment in football

Don’t really have any funny moments I remember but a match day at Sedge is always funny Joe Walton, Ben Atkinson and the gaffer are probably the funniest people I’ve met in football, always an all round funny and upbeat time.

First semi-professional manager

Lewis Whitham learnt a lot off Chris Hilton and Lee Thompson. Picture: Ian Revitt

Hilts (Chris Hilton) was my first Semi Pro manager, what a bloke. Hilts and Tomo (Lee Thompson) brought me in from the reserves and believed in me and gave me the confidence to drive on, they always expected more of me as well and I’d say that’s why I’ve got a good attitude when it comes to learning and trying to pick things up from people around me to get better.

Non League Debut

My Non League debut was I think against Gresley came on as a sub late into a tight game which I believe was 3-3 and was nervous as anything. Should’ve scored in last few minutes.

First Red Card

My first and only red card was against Leek I think, was losing and got a bit heated, corner got cleared me and the right back sprinted to get to the 50/50 he got there first and I dove in extremely late.

First and Best Non League Goal

Lewis Whitham gets felled

It sounds bad but I can’t remember my first non league goal, but my best is a tough one, there’s 2 up there for me 1 against Halifax for Sedge but I think I’d have to go with my FA Cup goal two years ago we lost the game 3-2 but I cut in from the edge of the area and hit a perfect knuckleball which went top bins.

What do you want to achieve in football in the future?

In the future I’m hoping to go as far in the game as I can, hopefully professional maybe even Prem one day might be a long shot but I’m just focusing on enjoying what’s happening now and working myself in training, at the gym and listening to the Gaffer and Pav (Singh) and the lads around me to better my self.

Favourite Non League Ground

My favourite non league ground has to be Clayborn, the set up, the atmosphere, the people/support. I’ve not been at Liversedge long but it’s home to me.
