NCEL hopefuls Beverley pipped to the Humber Prem title

Mike Thompson’s NCEL hopefuls Beverley Town have been pipped to the Humber Premier League title.

Hedon Rangers are the champions after blasting six past third-placed South Cave United without reply in their final game of the season.

A hat-trick from Daniel Clancy, a double from former Thackley attacker Matt Broadley and a solitary first half strike from George Cooper led Hedon to victory.

Beverley lost 3-2 to Hedon in their last match on April 30th when victory would have handed them the crown.

Beverley are hoping to win promotion to the NCEL for the first time in the club’s history.

Along with the likes of Wakefield AFC, they face an anxious wait to find out if they have been successful with their application.

It is believed the new constitution for the Step 6 and above will be announced by the FA on Tuesday 17th May.
